A fair-minded editorial in The New Statesman praises both Lib Dem leadership contenders, but throws the journal’s endorsement behind Chris Huhne. They say:
As they mull over the options on their ballot papers, the 55,000 dedicated members of Britain’s third party could do worse than to heed the following advice: “For the country’s sake, the Liberal Democrats need to get back a sense of anti-Establishment insurgency.”

In his Question & Answer session with The Independent’s readers, Chris Huhne has said Charles Kennedy should return to a front-line position in the shadow cabinet.
“The party needs Charles to come back in a key front line role as soon as possible. He is far too big a talent for him to sit on the subs’ bench rather than play on the field,” said Chris.
With all the talk of similar policies, this is at least one issue on which Nick and Chris have set out different stalls. The Clegg campaign want Kennedy to be part of a “council of greybeards”, advising the leader alongside David Steel, Paddy Ashdown and Shirley Williams.

Here’s what the media had to say about Chris launching his campaign yesterday:
The Guardian has a report on the launch as well as an interview with Chris, where he discusses how his economic expertise will allow him to take on Gordon Brown effectively.
The Times reports on the launch, and has a comment/sketch from Sam Coates which focuses on Martin Horwood’s comment that Chris is happy to be an underdog.
The Telegraph covers the launch, but spends most of the article talking about Ming’s resignation.
Meanwhile, the Independent find one quote where Chris said he wouldn’t be ‘streaking down the street’ and use that as the headline for their article. Something tells me we should be glad this isn’t the cover story.
There’s also coverage in the Scotsman, the Daily Mail, the Irish Times, Politics.co.uk and BBC News (with opinion from Nick Robinson).
If I’ve missed any stories in my quick trawl round the web, then let me know in the comments!
